A majority of kenyans want the recommendations of the waki report implemented and would support the intervention of the international community if the government fails to act. According to the public opinion poll conducted in Pakistan by Pew Research Center in May, 2011, the key features of US policy remain unpopular in Pakistan and Pakistanis are concerned about issues related to sovereignty of the country.Richard Wike says that the overall negative public opinion may or may not drive future politics of Pakistan (Int). The former senior adviser to Richard Holbrook, Vali Nasar says that “the rise of Imran Khan” “is a warning sign to the United States”, “because our policy with Pakistan is pushing essentially towards a major popular opposition in that country”. He considers the recent public rally lead by Imran Khan, the former Pakistani cricketer turned politician as the most important story coming out of Pakistan in last few weeks. Analysts both in Washington and Pakistan are taking note of this rising factor in Pakistani politics. An opinion poll shows majority of Kenyans were happy with the outcome of the referendum…according to the opinion poll released by Infotrak, Kenyans stated that they were happy with the change that is going to take place when the new constitution comes into effect. However 9% of Kenyans are not satisfied with the August 4th outcome mainly because the ‘yes’ camp used state machinery to campaign. Prime Minister Raila Odinga still remains the most preferred candidate for the presidency come the 2012 general elections with 46% while deputy prime minister Uhuru Kenyatta comes second at 13%. An opinion poll commissioned by the local transparency international chapter indicates that about 75 per cent of Kenyans were keenly following the constitution debate and would vote in the constitution referendum. This emerged as a section of evangelical churches voiced its opposition to the provision of dual citizenship in the draft constitution claiming it would be subject to abuse. Similarly, the central Kenya parliamentary group is insisting that the constitution review process should be stopped pending the completion of the boundaries review.

It is a very small minority making up these OPINION Polls, being touted as the Voice of the American People doing it. I believe that the only important poll is the one taken on election day and people go to the “polls” and vote.

If a referendum on the constitution was to be held then most Kenyans would vote for the pure presidential system of government. This is according to the latest opinion poll by Synovate Kenya. The poll shows that 49 per cent of Kenyans want to directly vote for a president who becomes both the Head of State and Government with proper checks and balances. The hybrid system follows closely with 31 percent and the pure parliamentary system taking third place with 18 percent. This poll comes on the back of the Parliamentary Select Committee on constitution meeting in Naivasha agreement on a pure presidential system where cabinet ministers will not be members of parliament.
