Sarah Palin, while serving as Governor of Alaska, was nominated as the first female candidate of the Republican Party for Vice President of the United States. Following the nomination, her image came under close media scrutiny, particularly regarding her religious perspective on public life, her socially conservative views, and a perceived lack of experience. Palin’s experience in foreign and domestic politics came under criticism among conservatives as well as liberals following her nomination. A poll taken by Rasmussen Reports just after the Republican National Convention in the first week of September 2008 found that Palin was more popular than either Barack Obama or John McCain; however, this perception later reversed. At the same time, Palin became more popular among Republicans than McCain. A February 2010 ABC News/Washington Post poll showed 71% of Americans felt Palin lacked the qualifications necessary to be President of the United States. Prior to the Republican National Convention, a Gallup poll found that most voters were unfamiliar with Sarah Palin. 39% said she is ready to serve as president if needed, 33% said she is not, and 29% had no opinion. Question: Was Obama’s Town Hall a hit? 52% of voters disapprove of Obama, 48% at least ‘somewhat’ approve per Rasmussen?

“Overall, 48% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. That matches the lowest level of total approval yet recorded. Fifty-two percent (52%) now disapprove. ”
Rasmussen only polls likely voters which is why it was the most accurate of the polls in the last two elections. However even those who predictably discount Rasmussen because it has a result they don’t like, how would they explain the drop in the same company asking the same questions every day?

According to Rasmussen, 55% are populist (as they define it) and 75% total ‘lean’ populist while only 7% support the ‘political class’.

Going to other polls, Rasmussen notes that 59% of American adults think the government should let AIG go out of business, and only 18% disagree. They say “By a 70% to 11% margin, the Political Class ]and those who identify with it] believes it is better to keep AIG in business through subsidies.
At the other extreme, 73% of Populists say it’s better to let AIG go out of business.”

And breakdown of Democrats v. Republicans?
“It’s worth noting that the gap between Mainstream America and the Political Class is far bigger than the partisan gap within those groups.
Among Republicans who share the mainstream view, 77% say it’s best to let AIG go out of business. So do 70% of Democrats in this group and 72% of those not affiliated with either major party. There are roughly equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats holding the mainstream, or populist, view.”
On another poll: “Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner gets rave reviews from the Political Class. Among this group, 76% have a favorable opinion of him and 66% say he’s doing a good or excellent job. But, those who hold a Poplulist perspective strongly disagree. On a related topic, most Americans favor letting insurance giant AIG go out of business, but the Political Class strongly disagrees.”

Support for gun control laws in 2009 is at an all time low with only 39% of Americans in favor of stricter gun control laws and 50% actively opposing stricter gun control laws. No. When you get down to it, you really can’t be racist when it comes to Barack Hussein Obama because he is half White. That makes him ‘The Man’ and apparently you can’t be racist against ‘The Man’.

Polls have a tendency to say what the person who wrote the poll want them to say.
Rasmussen is one of the more honest pollers.
Question: Are leftists still dismissing Rasmussen as a “Republican Poll”?
Leftists loved Rasmussen when it nailed Comrade Obama’s election a year ago. But then Rasmussen starting polling Americans and showing their discontent with ObamaCare. So Rasmussen became a “Republican Poll” and was no good. Now, Rasmussen absolutely nailed the New Jersey election while Gallup and another one or two got caught with their pants down predicting a Speedy Gonzalez Corzine victory.
So, is Rasmussen still just a “Republican Poll” or are leftists coming around to the sobering fact that it is the most accurate both when it goes their way (Comrade Obama’s election) and when it doesn’t (ObamaCare, Corzine’s election)?
